Grace and Grit co-organizes from time to time special Nia events that give you an opportunity to take a pause and reconnect with your whole self in a relaxed and positive atmosphere with beautiful surroundings. You can expect to be guided by Kim and other experienced professionals and discover state of the art approaches for a healthier and more sustainable body and mind. Below is our upcoming event.
A one-day Nia retreat in The Netherlands

Re-balance and re-energize your body, mind and spirit
A mini retreat guided by Kim for anyone who is looking for some me-time and wants to revitalize their body, mind and spirit by getting out of their head and into their body. The day is intended to help you take a pause before the end of 2019 and as we enter the darker months of nature to tune into our whole selves.
The retreat will incorporate both mindfulness and Nia so you can expect a day filled with a mix of stillness and sensory-based movement. The retreat will take place in the spacious Tormentil room on the stunning property of the Venwoude Centre, in the vicinity of Utrecht. A delicious organic vegetarian lunch will be served as well as healthy drinks and snacks throughout the day.
The retreat is for every body and suits all fitness levels. You do not have to have any prior experience with Nia, dance or mindfulness and meditation. Just bring an open and curious attitude; a body that is looking forward to moving with pleasure; bare feet that can’t wait to take you through space; and loose, comfortable clothing.
Bring a friend or partner and create a day or full weekend of pleasure. If your partner does not want to participate in the program, she or he is free to create a day for themselves, exactly the way they like it and to enjoy the area and the premises (at no charge of course).
In addition to the program (see below), you can choose to have dinner at Venwoude before returning home. The nearby village of Lage Vuursche also offers dining options. Or opt to stay overnight at Venwoude and have breakfast on the property the following day before exploring the area. Note that rooms have shared bathrooms and toilets. Dinner or overnight stays need to be reserved separately and no later than November 8th. The costs for these options are detailed below.
Kim will gladly facilitate carpooling to Venwoude for those who have no car or prefer to share a ride. Venwoude is reachable by public transport but it is a definitely easier and a faster to travel by car.

This includes 6 hours of instruction; coffee, tea, water and fruit throughout the day as well as an organic vegetarian lunch.

What you can expect
9h30 – Arrivals. Refreshments and snack are served.
10h00 to 12h30 – MORNING PROGRAM (includes short breaks)
Stepping into the day – Welcome and the day’s program
Welcoming our Whole Selves in stillness – A lying Yoga Nidra meditation or body scan Kim-style.
Moving to Sense Inside and Out – A movement meditation to music which invites you to sense life inside you and space around you. This session incorporates Nia’s five stages and floor play, two of Nia’s signature practices that invite us to move mindfully and playfully from lying to standing.
12h30 – 14h15 – LUNCH AND FREE TIME
Following lunch you are free to do your own thing (from napping to exploring the property) or you can choose to participate in a mindful activity in Venwoude’s kitchen or, depending on the weather, join a guided mindful walk through the surrounding fields and woods, depending on the weather.
14h15 TO 17H30 – AFTERNOON PROGRAM (includes short breaks)
Move sensing Stability, Mobility and Strength – Ignite the forces of nature in you (Earth, Water and Fire). This session involves a mix of structured and free movement choreographed to soul stirring music to create movement, music, magic.
Moving to Heal – Inviting yourself to move in ways that suit your body’s way and feels perfectly delicious.
Stepping out of the day – Bring your attention inward and end the day with sound and stillness.
